Our new member and friend of our association Katie Davies, from Britain, has lived in Georgia with her children for the past 13 years. Katie is a journalist by profession and works in “Georgia Today”, which is Georgia’s leading independent English-language newspaper. She has a deep love of everything Georgian- from food and wine to the country’s fabulous nature, traditions, and art. In terms of her own art, for most of her time here she poured out her creative soul into writing books for young adults. When Covid-19 came along, her writing muse took a holiday, and her long-hidden art muse, who she hadn’t seen since college, stepped right in. A few pebbles collected from a beach on the Black Sea coast set her off on a new path and led to ‘Pirosmani Pebbles.’ From recreating Pirosmani’s many wonderful primitive works, to personal portraits of dancers in costume, Katie is able to paint almost anything and anyone on stone, ceramics, canvas, and paper. “I was very excited to rediscover my inner artist,” she tells us. “I’m hoping others will enjoy my works too, and that it will give me a chance to promote Georgia and its people in some way. For me, painting is a pure pleasure!” We would like to mention that Katie is involved in the volunteer activities of the Association, specifically in the editorial activities.
