Skills-upgrading for crafts producers in prototyping contemporary souvenirs with involvement of ex-convicts
The project “Skills-upgrading for crafts producers in prototyping contemporary souvenirs with involvement of ex-convicts”, aimed to bring together different groups of craft makers, such as ex-convicts, VET School representatives, designers and crafts makers to develop new collections of souvenirs and crafts items for local and tourism market through prototyping. The project included four different thematic workshops to elaborate collections for local Christmas fair (10 December 2017 – 6 January 2018, Tbilisi Merani, Rustaveli 42) and to apply Georgian ornamental patterns, traditional motives to new functional groups and contemporary shapes being on demand on the market.
The prototypes were designed using different technologies, while the participants were given the possibilities to brainstorm and develop their ideas, as well as upgrade their technical skills in collaboration with trainers and other participants. The involvement of ex-convicts in the project aimed to support their re-socialization and further employment through crafts. The products included in the particular catalogue are designed for both, local consumers and international tourist and are being tested on the local market.
